Water heating demands are increasing much to meet the huge domestic and industrial needs over the worldwide. This means large amount of energy resources are needed. The problem becomes more significant when using traditional fossil fuels, as it is associated with many environmental issues. The most suitable energy source that can be used for direct heating of water is the free solar energy. There are many systems can be used for water heating as: flat, parabolic dish, parabolic trough solar collectors.
This project report is representing a full design methodology and construction analysis of a solar parabolic trough water heating system equipped with a tracking system for the maximum solar radiation position over the daytime. The system consists of a single parabolic trough of 77.4 cm aperture width and 196 cm length, a receiver pipe made of stainless steel of 1inch internal diameter and a tracking system.
